Become a PADI Dive Master

Scuba divers look up to divemasters because they are leaders who mentor and motivate others. As a divemaster, you not only get to dive a lot, but also experience the joy of seeing others have as much fun diving as you do. The PADI Divemaster course is your first level of professional training. Working closely with a CORE Instructor, you’ll fine-tune your dive skills, and refine your rescue skills so you anticipate and easily solve common problems. You’ll gain dive knowledge, management and supervision abilities so you become a role model to divers everywhere.

As a PADI Divemaster, you’ll lead others as you supervise scuba diving activities and assist with diver training. Whether you want to work at a faraway dive destination, work for a local dive shop, or you simply want to take the next step in your dive education, the Dive Master Certification will be an achievement you'll be proud to have earned.

CORE Ocean Ambassador Program

Are you looking for a way to help protect our Oceans? Becoming a Dive Master is the first step in CORE's Ocean Ambassador program. As an Ocean Ambassador you'll lead educational Eco-Dives, help run events that support ocean recovery, and will learn and teach sustainable practices that everyone can employ in their lives to help protect the worlds marine heritage. 

Requirements

  • You must be 18 years old or older

  • You must own your own equipment

  • You must have current CPR & First Aid certification (available upon request)

  • Diving Fitness Medical Statement signed by a physician

  • 40 logged dives to enroll, 60 logged dives for certification

Class Structure

The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to be a leader and take charge of dive activities. Through knowledge development sessions, waterskills exercises and workshops, and hands-on practical assessment, you develop the skills to organize and direct a variety of scuba diving activities. Topics and practical workshops include:

  • The role and characteristics of the PADI Divemaster

  • Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers

  • Diver safety and risk management

  • Divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills

  • Business of diving and your career

  • Awareness of the dive environment

  • Dive setup and management

  • Mapping an open water site

  • Conducting dive briefings

  • Organizing a search and recovery project and a deep dive

  • Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course

  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs

What Does Training Cost?

PADI Rescue Diver training costs $900. Dive Master training is a commitment. Be prepared to assist CORE's instructors as they work with students in other classes... practice makes perfect! In addition to your standard gear, you'll need at least two surface signaling devices, a dive computers, and a utility dive knife. If you are missing any equipment, your CORE instructor can help you select and purchase the appropriate equipment at Anderson's Ski and Dive in East Greenwich, RI.

There are no other required costs associated with CORE's Rescue Diver training. Class materials, and tanks are included in the price of the class.
